Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Americas (NIDOA) has written to President Muhammadu Buhari demanding justice for one of its members who was murdered when he visited Nigeria.
The group writes, “He frequently travelled to Nigeria to attend to numerous charitable organisations he established to serve and better the lots of his people.
“Through his numerous charitable acts, many people were empowered to be self-sustaining.
“The Nigerian community in Atlanta, Georgia, and the people of his home town have lost someone very dear to them.”
Recall that Prince Abuda returned to Fugar, in Edo State, Nigeria, to celebrate Christmas with his family and was abducted on Auchi-Benin Road by gunmen.
The victim, suffering from exhaustion, collapsed while being led into the forest and was shot dead by the gunmen who went further to demand ransom for his release.
The police found his decomposing body four days later with bullet wounds on the Lagos-bound bypass in Benin.
Though the police claimed the suspects were arrested, nothing has been heard of the case since February 5.
The letter sent to Mr Buhari dated February 11, Thursday.
NIDOA is appealing to the President to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Your Excellency, we appeal to you to see to it that these senseless murderers, who see no value in human lives, are brought to justices,” it said.
The organisation said that Abuda was a prominent and well-established member of the Nigerian community in Atlanta who dedicated his life to serving others.
