Why I’ve Not Been Vocal About 2023 Election —Burna Boy

Damini Ogulu, Grammy award-winning afrobeats star, professionally known as Burna Boy, has revealed to fans the reasons for his silence during the 2023 election.

Burna boasts of several politically conscious tracks including 20.10.20, in which he slammed the government for their actions during the #EndSARS protests and Lekki Massacre.

Many of his fans have therefore expressed dissatisfaction with his choice to remain silent during these critical times.

The Ye crooner took to his Instagram page on Monday, where he told fans that he does not believe in any of the candidates running for political posts.

He also stated that he had refused to endorse any candidate or party as they could not be trusted to deliver their campaign promises.

“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to some Nigerians that I’ve not been vocal about the elections,” he wrote on his Instagram stories.

“Personally I don’t have a candidate that I believe in. I’ve never supported any political party or candidate in my life because I don’t want to make you vote and then blame me when the person f**ks up as usual. That being said, I hope all votes count and the best man wins.”

With reports of electoral malpractices being levelled against the Independent National Electoral Commission from various quarters, Burna had earlier called on the organisation to ensure the people’s votes were properly counted.

“Let Nigeria decide o! #inecnigeria. No try any result magic,” he wrote via his Instagram page on Sunday.
