Former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to increased calls by Abuja residents for his immediate resignation as minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking during the flag off of remedial work on Asokoro, Wuse roads on Thursday, Wike described the protests as a distraction.
Wike said he was more focused on his job as FCT minister adding that he has no time for such things.
The minister alleged that most protesters receive money from people to march on the streets.
He noted that as a democratic country, Nigerians are entitled to express themselves.
“Somebody told me that some people were carrying placards… Franky speaking, I don’t even have time to see all that. I don’t want to be distracted. I want to be focused to deliver on the mandate given to us by Mr President,” Wike said.
