Zamfara: APGA Board Of Trustees Secretary Dumps Party For APC

The secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) board of trustees, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shinkafi who is also a former governorship candidate in Zamfara and immediate past National Secretary of APGA announced his defection to the ruling party in a letter to the National Secretary of APGA.

The letter also contained his resignation from the position of APGA BOT secretary.

TrackNews Online reports Shinkafi is the current honorary special adviser on inter-governmental affairs to the governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle.

Shinkafi said his decision to dump APGA for the APC is based on the outcome of consultations with his supporters, family members, and other stakeholders.

“This is to formally tender my resignation as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Secretary of the Board of Trustee of the party with effect from the date of the letter.

“My decision to resign was made after due consultation with my supporters, my family members, my political associates in Zamfara State, and other Nigerians who form my part of my support base,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Anambra State who is the National Leader of APGA and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Chief Willie Obiano; the party leadership; incumbent National Chairman, Dr. Victor Ike, Senator Victor Umeh the former National Chairman of the party for all their support while he was in the party.

“I wish the party well and also Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of our party for the forthcoming 6 November 2021 Anambra State Governorship elections, I wish him success in the polls,” he added.

The letter was copied to Zamfara State Chairman of the party, the Shinkafi Local Government Party Chairman, APGA Shinkafi, Zamfara State, as well as Shinkafi South Ward Chairman.

Meanwhile, Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Personal Assistant to Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad disclosed this on his verified Facebook page on Sunday morning.

The presidential aide wrote ‘’So Zamfara is back home! Welcome, Matawalle’’.

However, the Governor is yet to confirm his defection officially.
