Banditry: Katsina, Miyetti Allah, Security Negotiate Release Of 77 More Victims

 

The Katsina State Government, Miyetti Allah herders and the Security agencies have jointly secured the release of additional 77 victims that were kidnaped by bandits.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari who made the disclosure shortly after he received the batch of 77 victims brought to the Government House by heavily armed police, army and other security agencies noted that out of a total of 104 kidnapped victims rescued, 16 were from Sabuwa, Faskari and Dandume axis, 10 from Danmusa axis and the 77 from Batsari and Jibia

He further described the rescue exercise which started with the recovery of the recently abducted 344 school boys of Ƙanƙara Science Secondary School.

He said; ”We saw an opener and we are working with the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in cooperation with the police, the army, the DSS, the Airforce and other security agencies to bring back as many of the kidnapped victims as possible.

“The process is still ongoing, we are doing this as quietly as we can to make sure that nobody is harmed and further kidnapping is stopped.”

On his part, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sanusi Buba told reporters that during the rescue operation, the bandits themselves confessed that they want peace to reign in their domain.

He said, ”the Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammad Adamu in his wisdom decided to put machinery in place to reach out to the bandits to testify whether or not they stick to their words by asking them to release those that have been in their captivity which they have demonstrated.

“This process has been on for some days. We are making efforts to ensure that all those that are still in captivity are safely rescued without the payment of any ransom or hindrance.”
