In a spirited campaign rally in Ekpoma in Esan West LGA, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole urged the people to reject “artificial intelligence” in Edo State, referring to the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
Oshiomhole, the leader of the APC in Edo, praised the party’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the authentic Esan man that the people should support. “We, the people of Edo North and Edo South, have decided to support Senator Monday Okpebholo,” Oshiomhole declared.
The former governor recounted how he and Okpebholo had protested to President Tinubu when the Minister of Works approved only 200 million naira for the reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi road. “The president immediately approved 130 billion naira for the project without signing any MOU,” Oshiomhole said.
Hon. Dennis Idahosa echoed Oshiomhole’s sentiments, recounting how Okpebholo had met with the president to secure the funding for the road project. He urged the people to thank President Tinubu.
Addressing the crowd, Okpebholo said he didn’t come to campaign but to thank the president. He promised to return Ambrose Alli University to its former glory and employ 5,000 teachers in his first year if elected. Okpebholo also lambasted Governor Obaseki for crippling the state’s industries and creating massive debts, vowing to revive the industries and generate revenue for Edo.
The rally was a clear display of the APC’s confidence in Okpebholo’s ability to secure the Esan vote in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
