- As labour members joins APC
In a rousing campaign rally in Okpoji, in Esan Central, Edo State, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole urged the people of Esan land to reject the PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, whom he described as an “emergency Esan man.”
Oshiomhole, who is the leader of the APC in Edo, praised the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the true son of Esan land. “I remember building roads and schools in Ugbegu and Okpoji,” Oshiomhole said. “Monday Okpebholo doesn’t need an interpreter to understand the problems of the Esan people.”
In contrast, Oshiomhole painted Ighodalo as someone who is “always scared of his people, can’t speak their language, and is even scared to sleep in Esan land.” The former governor questioned Ighodalo’s credentials, asking, “As the chairman of Nigerian Breweries and head of the economic team of Sterling Bank, what has he done for the people of Esan land and Edo State?”
The leader of the Labour Party in Okpoji also announced their decision to join the APC, citing Okpebholo’s generosity and track record of transforming Esan land even before becoming a senator.
