Since Thursday of this weekending, it has been a case of frustration and serious complaints as the Edo Supporting Teachers to Achieve Result, EDOSTAR teachers in Edo state who were engaged 6 months ago are yet to be paid their salaries while others received one month instead.

The EDOSTAR teachers have however threatened to defy September resumption if their salaries are not paid before the resumption of 2022/2023 academic session slated for September, next month.

The teachers who protested in different platforms over their unpaid salaries have described the action of their employers as cruel and unreasonable.

“We were engaged since March this year and hope to be paid by August. Since we were engaged to do this work, we have not received any payment and we have been doing the work diligently in line with the guide and directives of our employer. Most of us travel far to do this work, we starve ourselves and families, we go into incurring debts to survive believing that by August, we will be paid all they are owing us. Now, it is time to receive our money, some receive one month and others were not paid at all.” The EDOSTAR teachers lamented in tears.

The EDOSTAR teachers have however, appealed to Edo state Governor, His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki to intervene so that their six months salaries can be paid before the resumption date so that they can prepare themselves for September resumption.
