Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State yesterday disbursed about N356 million as compensations to 216 individuals and companies whose shops or properties were affected by the ongoing construction at Kofar Guga to Yan Daka underpass bridges in the state.
The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, SGS, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, who made the disbursement on behalf of Governor Masari, said the state government is poised to salvage its citizens from poverty and infrastructural decay, adding that it is imperative to reach out to the affected victims.
Inuwa, who is also Chairman, Standing Committee on Land Verification and Compensation Payment, Governor’s Office, presented the cheques to the affected victims at the event held at Katsina Local Government Secretariat.
He said, “It is a known fact that anywhere we have projects that involve displacement of people, government always pays compensations to the affected victims.
“We are here again paying compensation to 216 people affected by this road construction project at Kofar Guga through Yan Daka.
‘’This compensation, which amounts to about N356 million naira is to be shared to the people according to their property’s worth,” he said.
He thanked the people for their understanding and cooperation.
