In a scathing attack on the current Edo State administration, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole has denounced the legitimacy of the state’s deputy governor, Omobayo Marvelous.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Ibillo, Akoko Edo LGA, Oshiomhole, who is the senator representing Edo North, declared that Hon Philip Shaibu is the “authentic” deputy governor, implying that the Engr Marvelous Omobayo, is illegally occupying the position.
“If Obaseki truly loves Akoko Edo, he would have made one of your sons the PDP governorship candidate or the deputy governorship candidate,” Oshiomhole said, accusing the governor of neglecting the people of Akoko Edo.
The former governor also criticized Obaseki for the perceived mismanagement of the state’s resources, stating that despite receiving over 15 billion naira in monthly revenue, the governor has “killed Edo State” and plunged it into massive debt.
Oshiomhole’s remarks were echoed by the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who promised to transform Edo State and address the pressing issues faced by the people of Akoko Edo, including the lack of basic amenities such as electricity and infrastructure.
Okpebholo assured the people that the “end of the suffering in Edo is here” and pledged to provide them with light, roads, schools, and an agricultural revolution, in contrast to what he described as Obaseki’s wasted opportunities and misplaced priorities.
